His Truth (,Grace, Wisdom, Promises, and Love) is "March"ing On!

Hi there, gang! It's been a month and a bit since we last connected. The weather is warming up, cherry blossoms are blooming, and spring is upon us. Here’s a clearer update on what’s been happening:

Misako is now one month into her two-month animation course at Anacom in Ome, Tokyo, and it has been an incredible experience for both of us! Alongside her classmates, Jenny Lynn and Iris, she is learning from our fantastic teacher, Graham, who Previously taught art at YWAM Kona before moving to Japan. Here are some pics of us and the Anacom building (the panda, puppy, and turtle featured below are Graham's original creations):
The curriculum covers character design, color theory, storyboarding, and more. Here’s a glimpse of what Misako has accomplished so far with her assigned character, Panda:
It’s impressive to see how much progress she has made in just one month! My role here is to be Misako's supportive husband and assist with editing the animations. For their final project, the class aims to create a full-length music video featuring their animal characters being rescued from difficult situations. I am currently working on editing a rough storyboard and have received permission from Graham to share a preview of our concept. The song is an original composition by Graham.
The video is still in its early stages, but the aim is to raise awareness against human trafficking. We hope to create a music video that promotes the "Peace of Heaven Children's Paradise" project, an initiative transforming an old facility, previously a female prison, into a safe haven for survivors of trafficking. This new space will provide a nurturing environment with quality education, nutritious food, and therapy for every child. But it’s not all work! We’ve also enjoyed some educational field trips. Our first stop was Moomin Valley Park, just outside Ome, where we learned about the beloved Moomin characters, akin to a Scandinavian version of Winnie the Pooh, but with a darker twist. The park features a small museum dedicated to Tove Jansson, the creator of Moomin, whose story inspired Misako by showing that you don’t need to be the most skilled artist to make a significant impact on people’s lives.
Speaking of influential artists, last Wednesday we visited the famous Studio Ghibli Museum in Tokyo, designed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki. Often referred to as the Walt Disney of Japan, Miyazaki has created many enchanting animations, including Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and My Neighbor Totoro. Although photography was prohibited inside, we managed to capture some memories outside. The museum showcased the traditional animation process, including painting on cells, which thrilled both Misako and me! They even screened an exclusive short film that can only be seen at the museum. Overall, it was a magical experience we will cherish!
Regarding my assigned film watchlist, I have watched 70 out of 100 films so far and am continuing to explore new favorites. Each film I see, for better or worse, does indeed reinforce the impact storytelling can have on viewers and motivates my passion for filmmaking. I aspire to convey the goodness, power, and love of the Lord through my work, hoping to touch, inspire, and change the hearts of many.
Regarding my film school tuition, I still need to gather $6,000 by July 2nd. Some of you have asked what will happen to the direct donations to the YWAM Kona film school if I don't meet my goal before the start of the school. I contacted YWAM Kona about this, and they replied that if this situation arises, all donations will be refunded to the donors through their original donation method.

In conclusion, this has been a wonderful, challenging, and exciting season for both Misako and me. We are learning, training, and seeking the Lord's guidance as we pursue His desires for us.
