Theological Thumbprints and YWAM Chile Team Visit!

Hello, my dear friends and family! It's been a busy August with guests, ministry and planning the YWAM conference! A girl from France, named Laetita, visited our humble base for three weeks, and a team from YWAM Chile is currently with us for a few weeks also! Lemme tell ya'll about it:

While Laetita was with us two weeks back, we had just started a new program within YWAM Sendai: a creative jam night! Basically, it's a time for those of us interested in creative ministry to meet up, have fellowship, and talk about how to reach the Japanese through art! Laetita was particularly passionate about this, considering she's a painter and a photographer, and with only a few more days in Sendai, she was itching to do an art outreach in downtown. After brainstorming some ideas, she told us a vision she'd had years ago before even knowing she'd be visiting Japan:

An entire map of Japan, drawn in the black n' white style of old Japanese art, in which people can place their thumbprint onto, filling the entire map with everyone's unique mark on the world. The piece is titled: "You are not alone".

We enjoyed this idea so much, that the following Saturday, we set up a section outside the Sendai train station, got the map and signs out and waited for people to join. Here's some pics from our outreach:

At first things started off slowly, but as more and more people added their thumbprints to the map, this encouraged others to add their own contribution to the piece. After they added their fingerprints, we handed out Gospel tracks to the participants. It truly was a wonderful way to minister to the Japanese without appearing intrusive or off-putting, thanks to our wonderful guest: Laetita! Pray for her, as she continues her journey to the city of Osaka and meets the YWAM team there!

A few days ago, I got to do my usual job of guiding all Sendai guests to Aoba Castle and the martyr statues with the YWAM Chile team! It was a bit of a rainy day, and there was an awkward moment of explaining that Aoba castle is only a rock wall and a foundation, due to the orignal castle having been destroyed many times over the centuries by earthquakes, but it was still fun! Note to self: say "Aoba Castle Ruins" from now on.

Here's all of us at the Aoba Castle Shrine:

(Left to right) Pato, Martin, Mily, Belén, Carolina, Pablo, and Felipe!

It was awesome to hear about their love for Japan and their desire to plant churches in towns where they're are few to none in this country. I pray that more Christians from around the world, not just the western hemisphere, would come to Japan and share Jesus' love to its people. Amen.

On a more serious note, please pray for the members of our team who are under financial stress. Living far away from home and being dependent on the kindness of others can be tricky, so please pray for financial peace and God's provision in our continued mission to share Christ to the Japanese. Thank you all so much for your continued support, and have a wonderful day!

Matthew 9:35-38

"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'"
