Greetings, beloved ones. Today marks the 8th anniversary of the 9.1 earthquake and the resulting tsunami which hit the Tōhoku region on March 11, 2011. 15,896 people lost their lives that day, along with 6,157 injured and 2,537 still missing. And due to the triple core meltdown of the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant from said tsunami, even to this day, there are still nearly 60,000 evacuees and more than 5,600 people still in temporary housing. To say today has been a heavy day is a gross understatement.
This morning in response, me and my team held a time of intercession, calling out to God for His guidance in this time of remembrance and mourning. Words such as "healing" and "restoration" popped up often, as well as prayer for the churches along the coast to be a lighthouse for the lost ones devastated by this tragedy. Verses from
2 Corinthians 1:3-7 and Jeremiah 29:7 were read and prayer for the Holy Spirit to soar through out all of Tōhoku, from our little town of Ayashi to the city of Sendai and beyond.
I ask that you too please pray for the people of Japan during this time of sadness. Pray that God's light and hope will shine through the darkest depths of suffering, depression, and despair. Pray that the church of Japan will reach out to comfort those who've lost so much. Pray that our team will encounter more and more opportunities to serve and love our Japanese neighbors, and that they're eyes and ears will be opened to hear about Jesus' love for them all. Thank you all very much and have a wonderful day. Love you all.
Matthew 5: 3-6
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."
