Now entering the third decade!

Hello, everybody! It's June, 19th here in Japan, which makes me now 30 years old! My goodness, how the time does flies by! If you told me a decade ago that I'd be a missionary here in Sendai, I would have said, "Way past cool!" or something equally corny and awkward. Now, I'd say something more dignified and mature like: "Supah kewl, dood!" Some things don't change.

At least I kicked off my thirties in style! On Monday, my wonderful team made me a delicious burrito feast, and baked a wonderful German chocolate cake in my honor! Than today, me and the boys had some dinner and finished off my birthday with karaoke! I'd like to say we didn't butcher Queen too much, but I dunno. Most definitely an awesome birthday celebration for sure!

As I look back on my twenties, I remember being overwhelmed at times about what to make of myself and what the future held. I knew about Jesus, and knew that He loved me, but He felt far away, doing His own thing, leaving me to fend for myself for meaning and purpose. Suffice to say, I was lonely and empty, and no way to be filled. However, on the first week of my DTS (Discipleship Training School), the speaker explained that when we're holding onto bitter, or have unconfessed sins, it's hard to hear the Holy Spirit speak to us. We need to cry out to Him in those moments, not rely on our own strength or understanding. I did just that. I knelt down, cried out to Him, and surrendered to His power and will over my life. Instantly, I heard him speak words of healing over me, declaring me apart of his family. My life was forever changed.

Now working as a missionary in a country less than 1% Christian, I to want to help others hear from their Creator who loves them more we can comprehend. Thank you all so much for supporting and praying for me and my team as we continue to share the Gospel here in Sendai.

Now for some late 90's, early 2000's childhood cheese! Looking forward to the next 30 years!
