Somehow, It’s Already Almost June

Hello friends, family, and supporters!

This month has honestly been a bit of a blur. Between ministry, visitors, preparing for the baby, and trying to keep up with life in general, it feels like the weeks sped past at double speed. I kept thinking, “I should start writing this update earlier this time,” and yet here we are again. Some traditions never die.

One big highlight this month was having our friends, Stark and Leah, visit us from Singapore! It was such a huge encouragement getting to spend time together, explore Sendai, eat good food, laugh a lot, and just enjoy fellowship. Living overseas can sometimes make friendships feel very far away, so visits like these are always refreshing and honestly really life-giving.

At the same time, things at home have been getting increasingly busy as we continue preparing for our baby girl to arrive in September. It still feels surreal saying that out loud sometimes. We’ve been slowly getting things ready little by little, while also realizing just how much there is to learn before becoming parents. Exciting? Absolutely. Slightly terrifying? Also yes.

But more than anything, we’re thankful.

Thankful that things have continued to go well so far. Thankful for everyone who has been praying for us. Thankful that God has been faithful through every season, even the stressful and uncertain ones.

Meanwhile, YWAM Sendai has also entered a pretty major season as a ministry. Right now, one of the biggest things we are praying for is a permanent place for our base and for our upcoming DTS (Discipleship Training School) starting this September.

At the moment, we are searching for a place that could function both as a ministry base and a place to host students and community life. As you can probably imagine, finding a suitable place in Japan (especially one that is affordable and accommodating for many visiting foreigners) is not exactly easy. When landlords hear that YWAM Sendai is a religious organization, it doesn't always fill them with confidence to sign us on, therefore leading to many denials. There have been meetings, conversations, possibilities, and lots of praying. It’s exciting, but definitely a step of faith.

If you would pray with us this month, here are some things we would appreciate prayer for:

  • That our baby girl would continue to grow healthy and strong.

  • That God would help us become the best parents we can be and raise her in the Lord with wisdom, love, and faithfulness.

  • That the Lord would provide for all of our needs during this new season of life.

  • For YWAM Sendai to find the right permanent base building and DTS location in God’s timing.

  • For wisdom, unity, and provision for our team as we make important decisions for the future.

Thank you all so much, truly, for your continued prayers, support, encouragement, and kindness. Even from across the world, you are a part of what God is doing here in Japan, and we are deeply grateful for that.

We’re excited to see what the next few months will bring!

Joshua 24:15b

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
